The Short Story
I started this blog simply as a way to record the restaurants I’ve been to, mostly in the South Bay so I’d have a place in the net to call my own. I’d use this site as reference for myself & friends for any restaurant recommendations from the places I recorded.
I started out solely reviewing restaurants in the South Bay restaurants with a few from the Greater LA area here & there. As of Fall 2011 I decided to organize my blog a bit further. I’ve designated days for cooking posts, South Bay reviews, Greater LA reviews, random thoughts, and finally Food trucks. I hope that you as a reader find this site easier to navigate.
You may have noticed that I’ve added more recipes. Rest assured I will still review restaurants but it does get expensive. This is why I’ve decided to supplement my reviews with recipes since they don’t hurt my wallet as much. Recipes are also my way of hopefully expanding my reach to a wider audience.
The Long Story
I grew up in NY where I got my first exposure to all sorts of cultures & cooking. From a very young age, I was always willing to try anything on a menu. I first learned to cook in college after realizing that making my own meals is definitely a lot more economical when you’re living on a shoestring budget. After graduation, I moved to Orlando. Since I was new in town I made it a point to try a lot of restaurants in the area, just to see what was out there. That was when I first started to review restaurants, mostly on Yelp. I moved to Los Angeles in 2006 and have done what I did previously in Orlando, getting to know the area through food.
I guess you could say the catalyst of this blog started when I lived in Hermosa Beach. I made it a goal to try each restaurant on the pier before we moved. I recorded my reviews on Yelp at that time but I wanted my own site. Enter my blog!
Being in the South Bay, the majority of the restaurants that review will focus on this area. However, I always have my camera & notepad with me for those spontaneous dinners with friends in LA, so those will be included but I’ll try my best to keep the majority of the restaurant reviews from the cities of El Segundo, Manhattan, Hermosa, and Redondo Beach, and Torrance.
I started out as a restaurant review blog but I’ve branched out to include easy recipes & commentary as well. I feel it’s a way for the blog to be more well rounded.
Bottom line: I’m not a food critic. I just like to eat & share my experiences with you all.
That’s all I’ve got, thank you for stopping by & happy reading!
