I met up with my family for lunch at Zov’s. The first thing I noticed was how large the restaurant was. It felt like a maze to get around. However the size of the restaurant was justified because it was filled to the brim at lunch hour.
Fortunately, we were seated right away. We started off with a sampler of traditional Mediterranean appetizers. I cannot tell you how much I loved the sweet walnut dip. It was like an apple pie without the crust. The baba ganoush & tabouleh were also pretty good. I didn’t like the grape leaves. I don’t know what it is but I’ve given it a few tries & still haven’t acquired a taste for them.
Next up was their tomato soup which was creamy, sweet, and comforting. Not salty, or watery, just the right texture and good for a rainy day like the ones we’ve had recently.
I had their Moroccan chicken bowl for my main course. My only complaint here was that it wasn’t large enough of a portion. It was great to eat a new style of chicken. It was definitely something different from what I’ve had.
All in all it was a good lunch. I’d stay stop by Zov’s if you’re in the area. Otherwise stay put in LA, there’s many restaurants in LA county as well that are comparable.
