My very first thought at first glance of Rock & Brews was a non corporate Hard Rock Cafe. Indeed it was just that and then some. Gone was the almost predictable decor on the walls and stiff & rehearsed staff. In its place? a laid back atmosphere out in an open air dining area complete with picnic style tables, and live music. The menu featured appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. Yes plenty of rock songs were played but the hallmark of this menu was of course the brews. It was quite the selection. While there were some I dines with that couldn’t decide where to start, there were others that simply wanted to drink.
One of the most interesting beers was the Speedway Stout. Containing hints of coffee and dark chocolate, it was definitely something unique and undoubtedly provided a powerful pick me up. The flight was a welcome start to the evening.
The Italian sausage sandwich was entitled born to run. With a sweet taste melding perfectly with the mild mozzarella and tangy marinara, it truly was worth the run afterwards to burn off the calories.
Between the food and the brews, it certainly was a fun time to be had. Nestled in the small town like El Segundo, it’s a wonderful place to kick back after a long day.
However, don’t kick back too much this month as Rock & Brews is hosting Rocktoberfest until October 30th so keep the party going!
