It’s the busiest baking time of the year. Undoubtedly, you’ve had to use some buttermilk for some of your seasonal goodies. The question always is, what to do with the rest of the buttermilk?
Drinking it doesn’t seem too appealing, at least to me, so I made another tasty treat, buttermilk biscuits! I got this recipe from a friend & the biscuits came out huge and super fluffy! For a second there, I thought I was transported to the south. These taste so good hot & fresh from the oven. I made my own breakfast sandwich with one & put some butter on the other. The combinations are endless.
Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups buttermilk
Cooking Directions
- Sift dry ingredients
- Cut in butter until coarsely crumbled
- Quickly fold in buttermilk until sticky dough forms.
- Turn onto floured surface and fold to create layers.
- Press to 1.5\" thick, cut with 3\" biscuit cutter
- Brush tops with buttermilk
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 for 20-25 min.
