The 30 Day Meal Plan

The scale isn't my friend right now.

I’m not hitting the malls for the latest sales today. I didn’t go snowboarding in Mammoth over the weekend. Instead, today I begin a 30 day meal plan.

I admit right now, I gained a lot of weight during my trip to Australia. I was on vacation. I wasn’t counting calories, I was enjoying myself & yes going up for seconds…and thirds on the cruise buffet… on a daily basis.

Yes I know this probably wasn’t good in the long run & my clothes gripped to me once I got home, and not in a good way.

I immediately started ice skating once again for 5 days a week. When I say this, I don’t mean just skating around in laps, although that too burns calories. I’m also doing crossovers, turns, spins & jumps which should count for something but sadly the scale doesn’t think so.  I’ve been keeping a log of what I eat with the iPhone app “Lose It” it hasn’t steered me wrong in the past.

I cut out all chips & sweets & am eating more fresh fruit & veggies.

Sounds good right? Well, unfortunately the scale doesn’t think so. I’ve been on this diet for almost a month now & the scale has shown the same weight, plus or minus 2 pounds. It’s frustrating. I’m exercising, I changed my eating habits & yet the scale, and my clothes don’t show that.

It was time to try something more drastic. I was reading an article in Shape magazine that talked about a 30 day diet where there were a certain amount of meals for each part of the day & you got to pick and choose from it.

I’ve steered away from things like this in the past. I get bored if I eat the same things over again. So I decided to compromise. I will select a meal from the assigned ones for breakfast & lunch since those are the meals that I tend to just wing it on. For dinner I’m looking at low fat/ calorie recipes from cookbooks & online. I feel its a fair thing to do. Yes I will continue to skate but I will also be adding some more intensive training as well.

I’ll be updating this blog with my progress. If you’re reading this, you’re my witness so here we go with day one!

Have you done a 30 day diet before?
